the modern fashion industry is overrun by microtrends that come and go with every season, which leads to overconsumption and waste. additionally, most modern fashion is poorly made with synthetic fibers that are bad for the planet and cause the garments to not last as long. most importantly to me, most modern fashion is made by individuals in countries that do not have strict labor laws, meaning many workers who are making today's clothing are overworked and underpaid for the items they're creating.
